Teaching youth the ICT skills
"Project computer" is an initiative under Baraco Foundation supported by Connection Ubuntu and Global Youth Mobilization in partnership with the European Union aiming to equip youth with digital skills necessary for higher education, jobs and/or businesses.
Through our computer lab, young people located nearby are welcomed to learn digital skills in a monthly basis free of charge.
Below are courses offered at Baraco Foundation Lab
Basic Computer & Internet(4 weeks)
Empowering youth with essential computer and internet skills for higher education and future work. This course introduces typing, file management, Microsoft Office basics (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet browsing, email usage, and online safety.
What we teach
Typing and improving speed, managing files and folders, creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, using email and browsing safely for research
Who can join
Beginners, school leavers, and youth with little or no computer experience.
Graphic design & Creativity(6 weeks)
Teaching how to express creativity and earn as a young digital designer. This course covers design principles, using Canva for simple designs, and GIMP & Inkscape for posters, flyers, and logos. It also covers basic video editing using OpenShot.

Coding & Web design(8 weeks)
Introducing journey into technology by teaching coding and website design. This course covers HTML, CSS, and an introduction to Python programming, helping youth build simple website and understand the basics of software development.

Business & Entrepreneurship skills tools(3 weeks)
Teaching the digital tools youth need to run a small business, organize studies, and improve productivity. This course includes advanced Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Workspace, Tally or Odoo basics, and discovering online job opportunities.

Employability Skills Track(5 weeks)
Combines Basic Computer & Business ICT Skills for students seeking job readiness.
Digital storytelling & Media skills(4 weeks)
Teaching how to tell stories digitally and create contents that educates and inspires. This course covers photography basics, audio editing with Audacity, video editing with Shotcut/OpenShot, and planning contents for social media.
